Why is it important to read to my young child?
Reading aloud to young children may be the most important activity for later success in reading. Reading aloud to children helps them learn new words, learn more about the world, learn about written language, and connect the spoken and written words.
When children have a warm, happy experience of being read to by a loving adult, they begin to build a lifelong love of reading.
